The College of DuPage women's basketball team traveled to Chicago on Monday, Dec. 8 in a Region 4 matchup with the Statesmen from Kennedy-King College. KKC defended its home court to the tune of an 80-59 ballgame in favor of the hosts.
Four made three-pointers allowed the Statesmen to pull ahead early in the first quarter before a better Chaparral defensive stand in the second limited the KKC offense to just 13 more points before the break.Â
At the half, COD trailed 29-42.Â
DuPage spread the ball around in the third quarter with six different Chaps registering a score before a quiet final frame.
Ayaani Gusman led with 13 points, including a three-pointer.
Saniyya Harvey made two shots from deep and ended with 10 points on the night;
Jamie Hasemann netted the final make from beyond the arc for COD.
Erin Brown pitched in nine points with three made free-throws as well.Â
COD (1-8) returns home to PEC Arena on Tuesday, Dec. 9 for a Region 4 contest with Moraine Valley Community College at 5pm. Last year's ten-point victory at home snapped a five-game losing streak to the Cyclones.
