Visiting Harper grabbed a lead before the clock started in Tuesday night's game at College of DuPage.
It would be the only time the Chaparrals trailed in a 66-26 Region 4 women's basketball victory at PEC Arena.
The victory improved the Chaps to 16-12 overall and 16-10 in Region 4. More importantly, it secured the most wins in a season since the 2013-14 season when the Chaps finished 19-13 overall.
It also guarantees the Chaparrals, who won their fourth straight and sixth in their last seven games, a winning season for the first time in 11 seasons as COD will play at least a minimum of two games the remainder of the season.
Harper opened the game by hitting a one-shot administrative technical foul. That's all it took to send the Chaps on their way as they led 16-6 after one quarter and 28-13 at halftime. They led by as many as 43 with a minute left in the game.
Sophomore
Megan Martinez led the Chaps with 14 points, thanks to four 3-pointers. Fellow sophomore
Makenna Brown answered with 12 points and seven rebounds.
Nala Taylor scored nine and
Jaylen Zachary and
Cailey Salerno each scored eight.
COD dished out 17 assists with Taylor leading with five. The Chaps established a season-low nine turnovers in the victory.
The Chaps close out the regular season Thursday night at home against Madison College (10-16, 9-15). COD defeated the WolfPack 70-56 on Saturday in Madison.
