Playing in their first Region 4 contest of the season, the Chaps traveled to South Holland for a Sunday seven-inning doubleheader against the South Suburban Bulldogs. 

Despite scoring eight runs on 14 hits in the opener, costly errors resulted in 15 unearned runs as SSC handed the Chaps a 23-8 loss in five innings.

In the night cap, both offenses were quiet before a seven-run Bulldog fifth-inning catapulted them to a 10-0 final called after six.

Game 1 - SSC 23, Chaps 8

• Cullen Kleinsasser led all Chaps offensively, going 3-3 with three RBI and two runs scored
• Jason Sullivan was 2-3 with two RBI
• Matt McBrien recorded two hits and scored twice
• Kleinsasser along with Matthew Betancourt, Alex Chaltin, Joe Pender, and AJ Fulscher each logged a double
• Zach Glidewell notched a hit and an RBI in a pinch-hit appearance

Game 2 - SSC 10, Chaps 0

• The Chaps mustered five hits across six innings with Alex Chaltin, AJ Fulscher, Joe Pender, Michael Morgan and Dylan Johnson each contributing singles
• Anthony Titone worked two walks in three plate appearances
• Porter Olson got the start, allowing four earned runs with four walks and four strikeouts over 4.1 innings

The Chaps (0-8) next play Wednesday, making their home-opener against Region 4 opponent Morton College in a nine-inning contest.

First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m.
