Matt McBrien connected on a two-run single, but it wasn't enough as host Kankakee handed the Chaps a 5-3 loss in Region 4 baseball Tuesday afternoon.
The loss snapped COD's four-game winning streak. The Chaps (4-9, 4-3 Region 4) are at home Friday afternoon against fellow D3 foe and No. 15-ranked Oakton (6-4, 0-2).

th-ranked Kankakee improved to 15-3, 5-0.

- Matt McBrien delivered a two-run single in the second, scoring Andrew Hazelton (walk) and AJ Fulscher (double) that gave COD a 2-0 lead
- The Chaps pushed a run across in the sixth when AJ Fulscher scored on a wild pitch, giving COD a 3-1 lead
- The host Cavaliers scored three runs in the eighth, the final two on a passed ball and a successful first-and-third situation
- Alex Chaltin and Fulscher each had three hits and each doubled
