COD trailed early in Friday's home game against Oakton and though the Chaps fought back it wasn't enough in a 12-5 loss in Region 4 baseball.
The Chaps trailed 4-0 before they had a chance to hit on a day that featured a sound-hitting Owls' offense and howling winds. COD trailed 4-2 after one and 7-2 after three.
The Chaps got as close as 7-5 through six, but Oakton put the game away in the ninth.
COD (4-10, 4-4 region 4) dropped its first home game of the year and Oakton improved to 7-4, 1-2.
The Chaps are at Region 4 foe Moraine Valley Community College tomorrow, beginning at noon.

- Matt McBrien led off the game with a double and later scored on an RBI single from John McCabe
- Joe Pender singled and scored when AJ Fulscher was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the first inning
- Fulscher, Cullen Kleinsasser and Zach Glidewell all scored in the sixth-inning rally
- Dylan Johnson entered the ballgame after an injury and recorded a RBI on a fielder's choice
- Mike Biscan started on the mound, throwing three innings and logging four strikeouts along with giving up five hits and issuing three walks, seven runs (two earned)
- Jayce Maranell threw five relief innings, totaling three strikeouts and scattering four hits and a walk, allowing two runs (one earned)
- Joey Vandermeir threw one inning, striking out one and allowing three runs (all earned) off two hits
