Sophomore All-Region
Raena Del Angel opened the year with a 3-run home run in her first at-bat to lead COD in its opening weekend of play at The Dome at O'Hare.
COD earned a 17-3 victory over Elgin in the opener Friday, then completed the day with a 4-3 win over South Suburban.
On Saturday, the Chaps defeated Kishwaukee 17-9 before ending the weekend with a 16-5 loss to Joliet.
COD (3-1 overall) is off until March 12 when it plays host to Highland.
Chaps 17, Elgin 3
- COD scored multiple runs in each of the first four innings for the victory
- The Chaps totaled 21 hits and 11 RBI
- Del Angel led with a 2-for-3 effort
- Also earning three RBI games were Sydney Hurst and Julia Colorato
- Hurst contributed two doubles
- Colorato, Maddison Leftridge and Jenna Maples each doubled
- Aliyah Heredia had the other extra-base hit with a triple
- RHP Summer Silks threw 5 innings, striking out four and allowing six hits, three runs (one earned)
Chaps 4, South Suburban 3
- The Chaps took advantage of four Bulldogs errors for the victory
- Sydney Hurst scored two runs
- Earning hits were Julia Colorato (single) and Danielle Whitman, who had an RBI-double
- RHP Addison Brandl went the distance, striking out 10, issuing one walk and giving up five hits and three unearned runs
