COD opened its 2025 season with six games against four opponents over its opening weekend in Tennessee.

Although COD finished with six losses, the Chaps came close with a pair of one-run ballgames against Dyersburg State CC on Monday that included an extra-inning game.

At the USA Baseball Complex in Millington, No. 10 COD opened against Kirkwood CC and Arkansas State University - Mountain Home on Saturday, losing 12-2 and 9-2, respectively. 

On Sunday, the Chaps were swept in a doubleheader against Ellsworth CC, 21-9 and 9-1.

Rounding out the trip on Monday with one final seven-inning doubleheader at Dyersburg, COD fell 7-6 on a walk-off before losing on another walk-off in extras in the nightcap, 5-4.

The Chaparrals travel Sunday to nearby South Suburban for a Region 4 doubleheader.

Kirkwood 12, Chaps 2

• COD scored the first two runs of the game
• RHP Aidan Pieniazek got the start on the mound, allowing five runs (three earned) off five hits and three walks, while striking out five
• Matt McBrien and AJ Fulscher each doubled
• C Matthew Betancourt added a home run and threw out a runner at second
• Joe Pender recorded an RBI and a stolen base

ASU-Mountain Home 9, Chaps 2

• RHP Porter Olson went five innings, striking out four and allowing two earned runs
• Matt McBrien doubled for the second straight game
• Anthony Titone recorded the lone COD RBI
• Zach Glidewell went 1-for-3 with a run scored

Ellsworth 21, Chaps 9

• COD totaled three runs in the second inning and a five-spot in the fifth, tallying seven hits
• Jason Sullivan doubled and hit a home run, logging five RBI
• AJ Fulscher contributed two RBI, while Hudson Williams and Cullen Kleinsasser each had one
• Anthony Titone doubled
• Joe Pender stole a base

Ellsworth 9, Chaps 1

• RHP AJ Burnett started and allowed only one hit in his three innings and struck out two, finishing with seven runs, two earned
• Andrew Hazelton drove in Hudson Williams for the Chaps' run

Dyersburg State 7, Chaps 6

• COD held a 6-4 lead through six innings, after a four-run fifth
• Dimitri Bourmas exited his start with a hitless 2.1 innings, striking out two
• Reliever Jimmy Traficanti struck out three
• Joe Pender and AJ Fulscher each hit home runs
• Andrew Hazelton and Anthony Titone both recorded doubles
• Pender and Titone led the team with two RBI each
• Hazelton and Matthew Betancourt both stole a base

Dyersburg State 6, Chaps 5 (9 Innings)

• COD held a 4-1 lead after two runs in both the first and fifth, before allowing three runs in the seventh
• RHP Mike Biscan went seven innings, allowing four earned runs on seven hits and four walks, while striking out two
