- The Cavs scored two runs on no hits in the first inning, taking advantage of four walks by starter Porter Olson
- Kankakee pushed the lead to 5-0 in the third, scoring three runs on two hits
- The victory was Kankakee's 10th in the last 11 meetings, dating to 2019
- Joe Pender put the Chaps on the board with an RBI-double to right center that scored Matt McBrien, who led off with a walk
- Anthony Titone's infield ground ball scored Jason Sullivan, who singled to lead off the fifth
- The Chaps scored their final run in the sixth, an RBI-single from Pender that scored Alex Chaltin, who reached on a fielder's choice
- AJ Fulscher and Pender each had two hits as COD totaled six hits
- Pender's double was the Chaps' only extra-base hit
- Matt Betancourt went one-for-three and threw out a runner attempting to steal second base
- RHP Porter Olson (4-2) took the loss, throwing three innings and allowing five runs (two earned) on three hits and seven walks while striking out two
- RHP Michael Tuman threw three innings in relief, allowing the final four Cavalier runs (three earned) with six hits and three walks
- LHP Alex Ingram threw the final three innings, all scoreless, after replacing Michael Tuman
- Ingram was effective, striking out two, walking one and allowing just one hit
