Chaparrals baseball snapped a four-game losing streak in dramatic fashion Tuesday afternoon with a 5-4 walk-off win in the 11th inning over the Joliet Junior College Wolves.
The Chaps (13-22, 13-14 Region 4) were powered by two home runs from
Jason Sullivan and a third from
Cullen Kleinsasser.
Zach Glidewell plated the winning run in his only plate appearance with a single to right field that scored
Alex Chaltin.
COD faces off against Morton College on the road Thursday. First pitch is at 3 p.m.
Chaps 5, Joliet 4
- COD took the lead 1-0 in the second inning on Sullivan's first home run of the day
- Sullivan delivered his second long ball (ninth of the season) in his second straight at-bat and gave COD a 2-1 lead in the fourth
- In the sixth, Joe Pender worked a lead-off walk and came around to score when Michael Morgan reached on a bases-loaded walk and COD led 3-2
- Kleinsasser's solo home run (second of the year) gave COD a 4-2 lead in the seventh
- The Wolves rallied in the eighth and ninth innings with single runs to force extras
- In the 11th, Chaltin led off with a double before Glidewell's single drove him in for the walk-off win
- Anthony Titone logged two hits and a walk
- Pender took three walks in the ballgame
- C Billy Rogus threw out a runner trying to steal third base
- RHP Mike Biscan started on the mound, allowing two runs (one earned) on seven hits and three walks while striking out five in his seven innings
- LHP Kyle Boma allowed one run in one relief inning on two walks
- RHP Jimmy Traficanti (2-2) threw the final three innings, securing the win while registering one earned run on three hits and a walk with two strikeouts
