Chaps outplay Carl Sandburg with a sweep

The Chaparrals got back on track Friday, earning a sweep at Carl Sandburg 16-5 and 16-4 in Region 4 softball.

The victories pushed COD's record to 20-14 overall and 20-14 Region 4.

Game 1: Chaparrals 16, Carl Sandburg 5 5 innings

COD led 8-0 after two innings, and then extended the lead to 11-1 after three
Taylor Gloms went 3-for-4 with three RBI and scored three runs
Raena Del Angel added three RBI along with two hits
Collecting multi-hit games were: Cadee Baker, Sydney Hurst and Julia Colorato
Baker, Colorato, Del Angel and Jenna Maples each doubled
Colorato added a triple
Addison Brandl secured the win, throwing three innings and striking out two

Game 2: Chaparrals 16, Carl Sandburg 4 7 innings

COD trailed 4-2 after five innings, before unloading in the final two innings
COD took the lead with a five-run sixth
COD secured nine runs in the seventh to win going away
Taylor Gloms backed up her first game effort with an even better second game
Gloms drove in five runs on three hits, including two triples
Gloms threw two innings and struck out three
Jalene Sanchez added a triple
Jenna Maples and Julia Colorato each had two RBI
Aliyah Heredia enjoyed a 3-for-3 game
Earning multiple hits were: Sydney Hurst, Addison Brandl, Riley O'Neill, and Raena Del Angel
Brandl closed out the game, earning the win with five innings of three-hit ball
