COD took on always-difficult Madison College in Region 4 softball Friday afternoon and were dealt a pair of loss, 6-3 and 13-2 in five innings.

The losses dropped the Chaparrals to 12-6, 12-6 Region 4. Madison has defeated the Chaps 11 of the last 13 meetings, dating to 2019.

Game 1: Madison 6, Chaparrals 3

• A pair of 3-run innings put Madison in charge in the opener
• Raena Del Angel's sac fly to right scored Cadee Baker and tied the game at 3-3 in the fifth
• COD totaled five hits, all singles
• Riley O'Neill scored two of the Chaps' three runs
• RHP Addison Brandl took the loss, striking out five and issuing three walks, three hits, six runs (all earned)

Game 2: Madison 13, Chaparrals 2 5 innings

• The WolfPack countered COD's two runs in the first, scoring 10 runs and sending 14 batters to the plate
• COD had two extra-base hits — a double from Aliyah Heredia and a triple from Julia Colorato
• Raena Del Angel and Riley O'Neill each had an RBI
