Taking a break from Region 4 action, the College of DuPage women's basketball team hit the road south to University Park to take on the Governors State University JV Jaguars on Thursday, Jan. 29 which saw COD coast to a thirty-point victory, 59-29.

The Chaparrals' defense was suffocating, holding GSU to single-digit scoring in the first three quarters; four points in the first, nine in the second, and six in the third. 

In the first quarter, Lexi Lopez and Cailey Salerno each made multiple baskets with Erin Brown completing three of four attempts at the free-throw line.

Ayaani Gusman added a bucket in the second, along with a three-pointer each from Jamie Hasemann and Saniyya Harvey. 

DuPage, as they've done so all season long, exploded in the third quarter, scoring 20 points with five different Chaps logging themselves in the scorebook; including deep makes from Gusman and Kaisje Pryor, with Erin Brown pitching in three field goals. 

COD saw six separate players score in the final ten minutes, Harvey being the only one to make multiple shots from the field. Erin Brown made three more shots at the stripe while Loralai McIntyre and Aylin Lagunas joined the scoring party. 

After forty minutes, Harvey's 12 points led all scorers on the night while Brown and Gusman finished with 11 apiece. 

COD (6-16) returns to PEC Arena against Blackhawk Technical College on Saturday, Jan. 31 for a 1 p.m. tip-off.
