The College of DuPage baseball team traveled to Moorhead, Mississippi for a doubleheader against Mississippi Delta Community College. The Chaps earned a split, taking game one 12-1 before falling 23-13 in the nightcap.
In game one, DuPage erupted early and never looked back.
Cullen Kleinsasser drove in four runs on two hits, doubling home two in the first before blasting a two-run homer in the fifth.
Andrew Speh also went deep as the Chaps piled up 13 hits.
Devin Kraft set the tone at the top of the lineup, going 4-for-4.
JD Cumbee, Kraft, and
Zach Glidewell each delivered RBI singles during a five-run third inning that broke the game open.
Nick Konopiots earned the win in relief, tossing two hitless innings.
Alex Ingram added three innings, allowing one run while striking out three.
Game two turned into an offensive shootout. DuPage jumped out to a 5-0 first inning lead behind a
Hudson Williams RBI double and a two-run single from
Luke Fordonski. Williams added a solo home run in the second.
After reclaiming a 13-11 lead in the fifth on a
Rocco Damato home run, Mississippi Delta answered with nine runs in the bottom half and pulled away for the 23-13 win.
Williams, Speh, Damato, and Glidewell each had two hits in the loss.
