The College of DuPage softball team played a pair of road doubleheaders over the weekend, facing Joliet Junior College on March 20 and Highland Community College (IL) on March 21.
The Chaparrals fell 4-3 in game one against the Wolves. Brenna Berkowitz had a perfect outing at the plate, going 3-for-3. Lana Edkin finished 2-for-3, while Ava Forsberg drove in two runs on her lone hit. Olivia Vasak accounted for the other DuPage RBI. Alyssa Valencik pitched all six innings and recorded two strikeouts.
DuPage dropped game two versus Joliet by a score of 10-2. Edkin went 2-for-2 at the plate. Julia Colorato and Vasak registered the only other hits for the Chaparrals. Isabella Andrade recorded two strikeouts in just over one inning pitched.
On March 21, the Chaparrals fell 7-2 in game one against Highland Community College. Forsberg went 3-for-4 at the plate. Edkin and Ximena Banuelos scored the two DuPage runs. Angelina Tuminello pitched five innings and recorded one strikeout.
In game two against Highland, DuPage was again outlasted in a 10-9 contest that went nine innings. Colorato delivered a standout performance, going 5-for-5 with five RBIs to lead the Chaparrals. DuPage finished with a 13-8 advantage in hits but came up just short in the extra-inning loss.
