The College of DuPage baseball team hosted the Owls of Oakton College on March 24, defeating Oakton 11–4 while outhitting the Owls 15–8.
COD captured its first lead in the bottom of the third inning. Oakton tied the contest in the top of the fifth before the Chaps exploded for five runs in the bottom of the seventh to pull away.
Cullen Kleinsasser and Hudson Williams each recorded three hits in five at-bats, with Kleinsasser driving in three runs for DuPage. Wilson Terruty also drove in three runs on two hits. Andrew Speh and Devin Kraft added two hits apiece for the Chaps.
Parker Friend earned the win for DuPage. The right-hander surrendered two hits and one run (zero earned) over two and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking two. Carson Miller started for DuPage and pitched three innings, recording four strikeouts. Alex Ingram appeared for two innings and also struck out four, while Oliver Dew pitched one inning and recorded two strikeouts.
Head coach Pat Leahy said the following after the win: "I thought we did a lot of things well. It's always good to play a clean ballgame. No errors in the game — that's huge. We know we're going to see those guys again later in the year. They're always going to give us a tough test, so it's good to play a complete game and come away with a win."
