Box Score 2 The Chaparrals earned a split in their Tuesday doubleheader at Prairie State, losing the opener 12-11 before coming back and defeating the Pioneers 18-8 in five innings in Region 4 baseball.

COD (11-5 overall), which was scheduled to play Wednesday at home against Oakton, will face the Owls on April 5 at Wintrust Field in Schaumburg. The Chaps are home Thursday against North Central JV with first pitch at 3 p.m.

The Pioneers rallied in the seventh, scoring five runs and earning the walk-off victory. The Chaps totaled nine hits with
Kyle Fenner,
David Marshall and
Jason Cousineau each having two-hit games. Marshall drove in three runs and
Joe Cosenza drove in two runs. Fenner, Marshall and
A.J. Taylor all doubled. COD struck with five runs in the third, sending 10 batters to the plate.
Joe Seiber earned the start and threw four innings, striking out three and giving up eight hits.

Game 2: Chaparrals 18, Prairie State 8 5 innings
Cosenza keyed the Chaps' offense, driving in five runs that included a three-run double in the fifth and the Chaps earned the victory in five innings. COD opened the game with a five-run, three-hit first. They added five runs in the fourth and ended their scoring with an impressive eight-run fifth. COD totaled 13 hits with Marshall,
Filip Milatovic and Taylor all driving in three runs. Taylor and Cousineau each had three hits. Taylor tripled and doubled, and Milatovic, Taylor and Cousineau joined Cosenza with a double. On the mound, starter
Michael Knezevic threw 3 2/3 innings, striking out four and issuing three walks.
Evan Ryan finished and struck out two in his 1 1/3 innings.
