No. 15 Chaps fall short

Box Score Jake Pauley went 3-for-4 and Josh Schuberth drove in three runs, but visiting Triton grabbed an early lead and never let it go in handing the No. 15-ranked Chaps a 15-9 loss in Region 4 baseball Tuesday afternoon.
 
The Chaps, now 17-7 overall, are at home Thursday for a doubleheader against Moraine Valley. First pitch is 2 p.m.
 
  • David Marshall connected on his third HR and his team-leading 41st RBI in the first
  • Aden Aukland connected on a sac-fly to center and Schuberth drove in a run on an infield groundout for a two-run fourth
  • Trailing 9-3, COD got back into the game with a 5-run 7th
  • Schuberth came through with a 3-run double, scoring Marshall (walk), Jason Cousineau (walk) and Joe Cosenza (walk)
  • Triton answered back, scoring four in the eighth and two in the ninth
  • Pauley, who hit in the ninth spot, singled in the third, fifth and eighth
