A top-notch two-sport athlete, Mike Bellamy helped head coach Bob MacDougall’s teams win 18 of 22 football games in two seasons (1986-87) at his wide receiver position and he enjoyed an All-American season as a sophomore. On the track, he remains COD’s school record holder in the 100 meters (10.36 seconds) and as a member of the 4 x 100 relay. He completed his collegiate career at the University of Illinois, where he was a second-team All-American and a first-team All-Big Ten receiver in 1989. Bellamy was a second-round selection by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 1990 NFL Draft. He also played for the Indianapolis Colts, Chicago Bears and Oakland Raiders (1992-95).
